“I Wrote A Song” -- Is The UK Eurovision Entry A Winner?
Listen to the last decade of Eurovision Contest winners and it’s easy to hear why they won: they are all energetic, powerful, and easy to remember…Full points not Null points.
But will similar success come to “I Wrote A Song” by Mae Miller, this year’s UK entry?
Audiant Labs says no.
Using our proprietary music data we analysed the last ten Eurovision winners to see what attributes they share. All ten tracks score high for ‘Energetic’, ‘Engagement’ and being easy to ‘Recall’. Seven are both ‘Powerful’ and ‘Happy’. Six are ‘Familiar’. While ‘Engagement’ scores are quite low, with one exception they all group together.
Unfortunately, “I Wrote A Song” only scored well for ‘Powerful’ and ‘Recall’. Crucially, its scores for ‘Energy’, ‘Happy’, ‘Familiar’ and ‘‘Engagement’ are the lowest of all the tracks analysed.
Is the data correct? We will know on the night whether it’s Null points or Full points
